I am trying to resize some large JPG files. I am following the steps in viewer (duplicate - open in viewer - adjust size - save) however the new file always defaults to the original larger file size. Any ideas how to fix this?

What settings are you setting in adjust size?
If you are trying to adjust the number of pixels, then you need to make sure that is what you are changing. Changing the size in inches or cm won't necessarily do that.
