My Contacts app disappeared from my home screen. Tried to go to the App Store and get it back. But I couldn’t download it or get the app back onto my phone. The App Store screen just said “open” for the contacts app and would not download it.

If you are running on iOS 14 then go to the App Library. It will be there. Press on the app until a menu pops up. The select “add to Home Screen”
