My home screen is blank after restart, how do i fix this?

So my ipad was very slow and i decided to restart it, and then when it successfully restarted, the home screen went blank, like nothing in it. i cant even go to settings or any apps. i tried to reset my ipad through my laptop but it says “Please trust your ipad first” or something like that, but the message didnt appeared in my ipad. please help. im using an ipad gen 2.

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
