iMac reset issues

My iMac (el capitain 2016) has been cleaned down at factory reset but OS X can’t be installed. What can I try next?

Make sure the hard disk is formatted HFS Extended GUID. The APFS formatting on High Sierra and later which may have been installed won't work with El Capitan.


Also make sure when you format, you select Apple HDD, not the Mac OS Extended selection in Disk Utility.
