gallery mode in photos

I just update to Catalina from High Sierra. I'm a photographer. On my imac When you go into photos I used to be able to select the gallery icon and a photo would appear and i could make it larger and scroll through my photos quickly. Now you can scroll in the lower part of your screen but the photos are so small you can't really see them. Any one else frustrated? And suggestions?

there is no way to make the thumbnails in the gallery larger. I would collect the photos in an album, where you. an display the thumbnails in the correct aspect ratio and zoom them a bit. Then select a photo to view it enlarged.
