How do I select and save a video clip from a movie so that I can then insert that clip into a presentation?

Create an iMovie project. From the project screen view, click on the little export button (the square with the upward pointing arrow in it) at the top right of your screen. A box will open with various export options. Click on File and follow the directives in the ensuing boxes that appear. You want to save the project as a Movie file on your desktop. From there you can drag it into whatever presentation you are making.
