External Displays

My 2020 iMac (Big Sur) will not allow me to use my 2013 iMac (Catalina) as an external monitor. It appears to be an Apple software issue. Might there be a 3rd party solution?

Hi johngibson49,

That is correct. The 2020 Mac is too new, Big Sur is not compatible, and Catalina on the 2013 is not compatible. There are third party options out there, but they are very buggy, unreliable, and hit or miss.

You are much better off buying a standalone external display, such as a LG or HP.

Cheers,

Jack
