Help with screenshots - is it fixable?!

For more years than I can remember, I have made heavy use of Cmd-Shift-4 to take screenshots and auto save to desktop. I use this maybe 20-30 times per DAY! I hate it when they change things but don't leave the option to do what it USED to do, after giving me YEARS to get used to it and have a smooth workflow which is now harmed by the hip new ways!

When I take a screenshot since upgrading to Mojave, it takes several seconds to save on the desktop, sometimes 5 seconds but never less than 3. That may seem insignificant, but it's the very opposite. It used to be INSTANT! And i could grab the file and drag into a chat window to help support someone online.

Is there any way to avoid this delay?

Open the Screenshot app in your Applications> Utilities folder.

Click on the Options button and uncheck Show Floating Thumbnail

this should make the screenshot appear immediately on the Desktop

or where you have chosen to save it.
