No, it is not normal. The serial number and IMEI on the box should match what you see in Settings/General/About. If they don’t match the phone was reboxed and is not a new phone.
Another check: A new phone should have a heavy weight plastic wrapper, and the cord should be neatly coiled on a cardboard core.
