Screen and File Sharing

Running Big Sur on 2 macs and have noticed that both macs on the same network can file and screen share without a password! Is there a way to have both macs ask for a password when screen sharing and /or file sharing is checked?

Thanks

Howdy,

Are both computers signed in with the same Apple ID? If so, then a password is not required as it is "you" sharing with yourself and you automatically have access to your stuff.

According to Share the screen of another Mac

If both computers are logged in using the same Apple ID, the screen sharing session starts. If they’re not, you’re prompted to enter the user name and password of a user who is allowed screen sharing access on that computer, or you can request permission to share the screen if the computer allows it.
