Using external Mic with Mac mini M1 2020?

Some people say to plug in external mic through USB port. Others say to use 3.5 jack. Is USB better and is it more likely to yield efficient results?

Would you recommend a combo Mic with video cam, seeing that the Mac mini does not come with cam either and I want to engage sometimes in Zoom and webinars?

The single audio jack on all of the newer Mac’s is TSSR and only supports certain headsets w/Mic. So for a stand-alone microphone, you really need to use a USB audio adapter dongle.

Yes a Web Cam w/Mic is actually your best bet. Just make sure that the spec’s say that it is, compatible with the latest macOS’s.
