Shared family iPad

We have one iPad. I set up family sharing for me and my son who is 9yo. But I think I did it wrong. How does he log in under his own profile and not mine? I have parental restrictions set up for him but when he logs in, it’s under my profile, so none of the restrictions are in place. Is there a way to have a different passcode set up for him vs me. Or how do I log him in so that these restrictions take hold? It doesn’t make sense to me. Please help!

iPads are not designed to be shared. Family Sharing and restrictions are set up assuming each person has her/his own, unique Apple ID and her/his own, personal device.

If you only are using and sharing one device, consider using this approach for your son instead.
