I switched to an old iPhoto library to try and find a specific picture and when I switched back to my Photos library, it was only as current as May 2019. Almost 2 years of photos were just gone. Tried Time Machine, didn't work. I tried the command + alt restoring trick, didn't work. Looked through my trash folder, nothing there. Unfortunately I also have not been using iCloud. Any ideas for how to find my pictures?

First try opening photos while holding the option key. Is more than one library listed. If so, open them in turn to see if any contain your photos.
If not, then use the spotlight search to see if there are any other libraries (search in finder). Put photoslibrary in the searchbox.
Make sure "this mac" is selected.
If you click on the found libraries in turn, the location will be shown at the bottom of the finder window. Open each one to see if they contain your images. (Use the option key to start photos then select the library)

Thank you so much! I forgot to mention I tried the option key trick already too and it didn't work, but the spotlight search did! Very relieved.
