My AirPods when I try to reset them won’t flash white

yes, that tells me how to reset the Airpods. My problem is that they will not reset (which assumes I tried that already).

I open the case, and the led glows green. I hold down the button and in 10 seconds the led goes out completely. No green, orange, or white light. They have been charges overnight. Thoughts?
