Text messages not going through

Why are my text messages and my friends text messages now not being delivered to one another? Neither one of us has blocked the other. And it’s been several days now

both of you need to start here If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support and if that doesn't work contact your phone carrier SMS is their feature.
