Apple TV Refuses to Turn ON Home Sharing

My Apple TV simply refuses to recognize my valid iTunes ID and password in order to activate home sharing. I have home sharing activated on my Windows PC iTunes, but my Apple TV box simply will not activate home sharing. It keeps telling me it my ID couldn't be found or my password incorrect. Yet, it keeps sending a two factor authentication code each time to my phone. Why would it recognize my phone but not my ID? How can this be? I have tried every diagnostic and fix on the internet I could find and still NO luck. Can anyone help? Please!!

Windows, Windows 10

A1427 is an Apple TV (3rd generation). [A1437 is a MacBook Pro battery.]

The issue may be in two-factor authentication and the verification code.

If you have an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then you may be asked to type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field. Additionally, there is a time limit, after which the code becomes invalid.

Try this: First enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password (no spaces or other separating characters), and then submit. That should help you get passed the time limit.

Thank you for this suggestion. It does NOT work. I am UNABLE to independently generate a new verification code while my password is sitting in the password field of my Apple TV box, as you advise. I have an android phone that does not look at all like the screen shown in this tutorial. Each time I submit my password, it kicks it back to me as not recognized and it immediately generates a new authentication code right on top of the rejection. This is like being stuck in some closed loop of dysfunction. Adding insult to injury, I am unable to go to the Apple ID site to change my password because... wait for it... both my ISP (centurylink) and my browser (firefox) BLOCK the Apple ID site as unsafe. It won't let me on. I do agree with you that it seems the two factor authentication process Apple is locking me into is broken.

I just now reset my password using my android phone, as this was the only browser permitted on the Apple ID site. The same problem manifests itself - Apple TV doesn't recognize my ID and/or password for home sharing. The same two factor authentication issue persists - I get a code and then a new code right on top of the rejection. I also notice that I can turn home sharing on and off at will on my windows PC without authentication required, but NOT my Apple TV.
