how to add music from Apple Music onto imovie

Unfortunately, Apple Music cannot be used in iMovie. First it is a subscription streaming service. Second, all of the Apple Music songs are DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and cannot be used in iMovie for that additional reason. Even downloading Apple Music to iTunes will not remove the DRM protection.

iTunes music purchased before year 2009 also carries DRM protection and cannot be used. However, iTunes music purchased after year 2009 is DRM free and can be used. So, open iTunes and purchase whatever songs that you need for your iMovie project.
