Using Tab to cycle between option buttons, ie. cancel and delete

From my work computer I was used to being able to use the tab key when I selected something to delete, and a confirm button would pop up like it does when deleting an iMessage. The options being 'cancel' or 'delete'. Cancel is the default selection. So now I have to move the pointer to select 'delete', instead of being able to kit 'Tab' which would cause the default to cycle back and forth between the two choices.

Thanks for the response, but I answered too soon. Your hint works in that the tab key will now cycle between the two choices, cancel or delete. But that is where it stops. I can choose to delete an iMessage. Get the pop up Cancel-Delete button. Tab to highlight 'Delete', but hit the return key and the button just goes away without deleting.
