Trying to locate a phantom default “note” sound. Only app that I had a badge from was duolingo but usually duolingo uses their own sounds but is it possible that they can use the default iPhone text tone to send you a notifcation sound without me having changed this setting?

Yes, that's correct. Even third-party apps can use the default iPhone notification tone for their app's notification.

Sorry I meant is it possible for them to start using the iPhone default tone without my permission? I believe some apps are actually doing this, has anyone else had this?
