Why are there no images from Photos to choose when modifying Profile Pictures?
MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.4
Because my internal hard drive was low on space, I moved the Photos Library file to an external drive. Photos.app sees the new location but other apps cannot find the file. This is the challenge. I tried an alias but that did not work. Any suggestions?
Open photos preferences, and click the button I've circled here.

on't you see this screen when you click on the picture in either System Preferences > Apple Id or in the Contacts app? Photos is part of the list of pictures you can select:
