How to delete a single playlist of music on the iPod classic 4th gen with apple music, or is there a way to install iTunes to do it on a mac if the mac is updated to the current os?

Finder/Music are less suited to manual management of devices. See Recover media from an iPod - Apple Community, pull all content into Music, then sync a selection of content to the classic clearing off everything else. Apple don't support installing iTunes on Catalina or Big Sur, but if you're determined search for Retroactive.
