Apple ID password

I have recently got a new phone and have been trying to get it to work for a few weeks now. I have converted everything from my old phone to my new phone however the apps are not downloading because I need to put my ID password in but I have forgot it. So I have been trying to recent it and it keeps saying it’ll send me an email in 24 hours to do it but I never sends im not sure what else to do?
