cant redeem apple gift card

Hi all,

I traded up my Mac book pro & received a gift card for it, for$170.00 when I try to redeem it for a new computer intestates that it has already been redeemed???? I've tried numerous times & numerous ways to redeem this. Any help with this issue would be hugely appreciated!
