Only you can determine if the new or updated features of the current models of iPad are worthwhile for the cost of upgrading an existing iPad. You can directly compare major features and specifications here:

iPad - Compare Models - Apple

The third generation iPad Pro 11” and fifth generation iPad Pro 12.9” do benefit from enhanced specification over that of a second generation Pro 12.9”. Obvious differences are smaller bezels, substitution of TouchID for FaceID, rear and front camera arrays - and the new mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display, additional RAM and 5G Cellular support (obviously the latter only on cellular models).

Perhaps your best course of action is to visit an Apple retailer with your existing iPad - and compare them side-by-side.
