All you need is one these adapters to use with the Apple SuperDrive.

My SuperDrive works fine with my M1 iMac 2021 using one of those adapters.

Hi there,

The SuperDrive requires a certain amount of power to be able to operate, which most third-party docks and hubs don't seem to be able to properly supply. Apple has an article which I will link below explaining how to connect to the Apple USB SuperDrive. For Macs such as yours without a built-in USB A port, this article lists three Apple branded adapters which should allow your SuperDrive to work again.

Best of luck!
