Popup hacker is tracking me on my Mac. What must I do?

Can you advise me how to guard agains a the hackers access to my computer. I received an urgent fake notice while I was on Safari. A tab said call: *** as you have been hacked and your computer is locked. I gave the fake tech access to my computer before I realized it must be a scam. He has my name and address and phone #.

He requested $977.99 US by cheque to fix the problem and save me from being hacked (for a 5 yr. plan. )

He wanted the money sent to:

This is when I told him I thought it was a scam. He then disconnected, but, I was tricked into a PUA

I closed all of his downloads.

I trashed all of the software he installed like Supremo. and FixMe.

What should I do next for future protection.
