Just had warning flash on my iPhone screen warning me there was a critical breach in my iPhone security due to malware picked up
indicated the warning was from apple
how can I confirm this is for real versus phishing

what you have mentioned is something you believe is "real" but it's not because what you may of gotten is called a "pop - up" people can send these messages out to people somehow tricking them into assuming your IPhone has gotten a virus on them.
