Reinstall OS X MacBook Air

I wanted to start fresh with our 2017 MacBook Air by reinstalling the operating system. It appears to install it as it goes through the process, however once it restarts, the screen has a message, "OS X could not be installed on your computer - No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance - Quite the installer to restart your computer and try again.".

Full discloser, I did not deauthorize this computer, nor did I log out of itunes before attempting this procedure. And of course, its too late to do so. I was able to go into my icloud acct settings and remove this device from the account (afterwards) but this made no difference.

Does anyone have a method that will work to reinstall the OS?
