I can't log into my new iMac

I just created an apple ID and I am trying to log into my iMac iMac it won't let me.

You do not use your Apple ID to login, you use your Administrator Password. If you forgot your Administrator Password please do the following:


  • Restart the computer in the Recovery Partition by holding down Command + R on startup. You may want to connect the cable that came with the Mac to the keyboard.
  • Open Terminal, you will find it in the menus.
  • In Terminal type resetpassword and follow the on-screen directions.
