Clamshell Mode

I am unable to use my Macbook pro M1 chipset with an external monitor in clamshell mode ,as soon as i close my laptops screen there is nothing on the external monitor ,I keep the power supply plugged in even then i doesnt work on clamshell mode.I need to know how to fix this error ,i have seen many suggessions on youtube but none of them seems fine and now i require a proper suggestion for this issue as it is bothering me alot.

If you use an external keyboard and mouse with your Mac notebook, you can close the built-in display after you connect your external display. You might have to press a key or click your mouse to wake the external display.
