Keynote can only import sound, video and image files, it is unable to import Excel, Word, Numbers and Pages files.

It can import individual pages from a PDF file, PDF's are a native image file format for Keynote.

You can copy text from Excel, Word, Numbers, Pages and any other file that can be opened on Mac, then paste as text onto a Keynote slide.
