get rid of 2nd/3rd desktops

Hello -- How do I get rid of 2nd and 3rd desktops? When I go to System Prefs>Mission Control, no x-able small desktops appear. Thank you.

existence of Desktops/Spaces and not controlled by Preferences.

You need to launch Mission Control. App. and get rid of them from the App.
