My home folder name is and has been different from my user name, is this an issue? I'm trying to organize my MacBook Air, been reading articles on changing this but I'm wondering if I should leave it? My user name is my name but my home folder is named after one of my old companies, thanks.

I suggest you leave it. When the time comes to get a new computer, you can fix it them. There is absolutely no reason for your user name to patch your home directory. It is possible that some poorly written app might have problems. But if it does, you don't want to use it.
