Screen Time Passcode

I am trying to change or remove a forgotten Screen Time pass code on an iPad. When I type in my Apple ID and password, it just attempts to login and increases the number of failed attempts. Any other ideas on getting this changed?

iPad mini, iOS 12

One approach:

Click on this link to read what to do "If you forgot your Apple ID" --> https://support.apple.com/HT201354 Note that typically this is an email address you use.

or go directly to this link --> http://iforgot.apple.com/

Another approach is the old way to remove Screen Time which is basically to erase the device entirely and restore from a backup that pre-dates you setting up Screen Time:

"If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled". Click here then select your device type if necessary --> http://support.apple.com/HT204306 - Also has links for what to do for an iPad or an iPod touch.

This will erase the device. You can restore your device from a backup but the backup has to date from before you set the forgotten passcode or it too will be restored.
