Where are my Apple Mail emails stored on my iMac ?

I have been told that it is difficult to locate the folder/files relating to Apple Mail on my iMac. It is proving that way. One tip I had was to press Command, Shift and dot to expose any hidden files. That sure seems to uncover quite a few. Who hid them - I didn't ? Can someone please tell me how to drill down to my Mail folders/files starting with opening Macintosh HD. Many Thanks.

Hidden files are hidden by default as they should be of no interest to the 'casual' user,

they are files required by the System.

Click once on your Desktop, click Go on the menubar select Go To Folder,

enter the text given by Matti Haveri

~/Library/Mail

click Go To Folder.

A new Finder window will open with the Mail folder highlighted, you can open that and then navigate through

the labyrinth folder structure to your e-mails.
