[Time Machine] [Fusion Drive] "There was an error preparing time machine"

Hi everyone, I'm using Imac 2017, it comes with a 1 TB fusion driver (the OS was installed in the external SSD). I was using it as time machine drive before updating to big sur.

But recently I re-installed my mac to a new external SSD and I formatted the fusion drive to Mac Os Extended (Journaled)/GUID. I got this error when I'm trying to select the fusion drive as backup disk. Please help, thanks!

I would imagine Time Machine wouldn’t like a fusion drive as a destination.

As to the formatting, Time Machine will convert it to APFS. That is likely where it is failing.

I would split the fusion drive and use the spinning hard drive as the TM destination.
