How do I set up "Audio In" on my 2017 27" iMac?

I want to have a input port for audio. What is the best way to do that. Only port for audio is output.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Mac's that have a single headphone jacks do support audio input, but only when using compatible headsets.


To input analog audio from other devices, you can use a simple USB audio adapter.

If you want to input optical digital audio, then you will need a USB DAC that supports optical input.
