iPhone XS shuts down when battery hits below 15%

I bought a brand new iPhone XS and so far I've had the worst battery life experience with iOS 14.7.1. The phone shuts down at just below 15% (probably 14% or thereabout), and any attempts to power it back on are futile. The only way to turn it back on is by connecting to a power source (charger) and when it finally turns on, I find the battery is at 13% or thereabout, which tells me it wasn't completely dead at the time the phone went off.

Furthermore, the battery drain is just too much on this thing. Battery health is still at 100%. Are you guys experiencing this same issue?
