I've forgotten my Ipad passcode. Using iTunes I was able to update the iPad but then it asks for my passcode to continue and when I cannot supply it it locks me out for an hour???

No you don't update the ipad, you put it in recovery mode and restore the ipad to factory settings.

I have forgotten my IPAD passcode. I followed instructions by connecting to my PC using iTunes where I was able to update the Ipad but still get a screen requesting my passcode which I've forgotten. The IPAD then locks for an hour??
