Time drift at login screen

We manage a few hundred macbooks, a mix of pro's and air's. We use a cloud directory, Jumpcloud, to authenticate to the macbooks. Part of that login is MFA through TOTP and randomly we have TOTP failures due to time drift.

Once we login through another local account or disable the TOTP requirement the end user can login then the time auto corrects.

We have read the various support documents and have time/date and timezone set to auto update. There are no issues in things like language settings either.

The time drift only happens at the login screen and not while the user is logged in. The impacted macs range from a couple years old intel based to 2021 m1 based. We are using time.apple.com for the time server.
