I lost my phone but when I look it up on my mac it does not appear on the find my IPhone app, what can I do?

Likely nothing. To be seen, FindMy must be enabled, the device must be powered, and the device must be connected to a network. Further, if you enabled "send last location," that will populate for 24 hours.
