13" MacBook Pro Backlight Problem

Have recently noticed the backlight down the bottom is missing parts and have what seems to be dark spots along the bottom

Have searched support and see there's a recall for the 2016 model for the same thing?

Why isn't the 2017 included if it has the exact same issue?

Solutions please?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

While many people have seen the identical failure with other later models Apple has only recognized the problem with the MBPro 13" (2016) laptop. At this point it is highly unlikely Apple will provide a free repair program unless one of the pending lawsuits changes Apple's stance on this matter (or forces their hand). If you do have Apple repair the laptop make sure that the technician clearly notes the exact details within the Apple GSX service portal so you can later get reimbursed for the repair if Apple ever does include your model in the free repair program.

You can provide Apple with product feedback here (Apple will not respond to you):

Or you can contact Apple corporate (Apple may respond back to you):

Repair costs may vary by region, but I would expect the repair to cost about $600 US for a 13" model. Repair costs can depend on whether the AASP repairs the laptop themselves or whether they mail the laptop to Apple. The former typically tends to be less expensive depending on labor fees. You would need to have Apple or an AASP examine the laptop to get a more exact repair estimate.
