Managing iMessages settings

I used to have two iPhones with different phone numbers connected to one Apple ID.

When I was receiving messages on one of the phones, I could see them on either device.

I gave up one phone last year. Also I just replaced the second phone with a new iPhone.

The issue is with iMessages. I figured out that iMessages I receive now, are coming for my old phone number (which I gave up last year). I'd like to associate my current and only number with iMessages, but cannot do it in messages settings. It gave me error.

Will appreciate any advise.

Sincerely,

Lenny

See if anything here helps.

Messages or FaceTime - Add or remove your phone number

You need to change/add the number on your Apple ID. You may have to add the new number before you can remove the old number. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
