Samsung SJ55W 2K 34 inch ultra wide.

The monitor has a resolution of 3440 X 1440. I am using hdmi connected to my M1 iMac via an Apple dongle. The highest resolution option I am getting is 1920 X 1080. I have followed the instructions from Apple. What am I doing wrong?

iMac 24″, macOS 11.5

You could try a better quality premium certified HDMI cable.

But sadly you still may not do any better than (1080p) 1920x1080.

That display also supports DisplayPort, which offers a wider range of Resolutions option than HDMI.

With that in mind, your best bet is to get and use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

for some examples, see > usb-c to displayport
