As Leroy wisely points out, the characters trailing after "118" do not help much. They are commonly indicators of factory options installed or localization, i.e., the specific language used for the keyboard.


Can you share with us why you need that number? I know some parts dealers go by that order number but is it not very useful to consumers who no longer have the shipping box. Perhaps we can help you find a better way to search.


Some model numbers are seldom year-specific. The A1286 model number was "recycled" to six (!) 15-inch MacBook Pros released between 2009 and 2012.
