Hi there,
Is it possible to set a default font for iMovie titles? It seems others have asked this but I can't find a direct answer to the question.
I am adept at changing the font, text size and style at every new title I insert in my movies, but this is annoying. I create teaching videos with a lot of text, so it adds up to lots of extra time.

At least I can stop searching for solutions! This is a major design flaw, which I can't believe would be hard to fix, and would make life so much simpler. It seemed so basic that I thought I must just be missing something obvious. Thanks for responding so quickly.

OMG - don't the designers actually make videos themselves?!! I really like iMovie for it's simplicity, and my husband is always trying to get me to use Final Cut which he uses. Good to know I'm not missing out.
Unfortunately, each title opens with its own default font. As you have found, one must change it manually each time.

One thing that you might try is to create a separate project that acts as a titles library. So, create a new project. But a black background into the timeline. Then create several titles above the black background with the fonts and sizes that you want. Save the project as Titles Library. Then when you create other projects you can go back to your Titles Library and select the title you want in the timeline and then Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste it into the project that you are currently working on.
I don't know if the above would save you any more time, but you can try it and see.

Thanks for taking so much trouble to think up a clever solution! I think though since I have lots of text as captions throughout, it will probably take more time going in an out of the Project than going through the font/size/stykle rigmaole each time. But appreciate the idea.

If it's any comfort, the expensive Final Cut Pro X is the same.
How about Davinci?

I think in FCP X you can make a preset for your own custom title but you would have to make a different one for each different style of title.
Yeah, I guess one must take whatever the app will give.
