Is there a glitch with swiping screen recordings?

When you take a screenshot, swiping right on the preview saves it to your default path.

However, when you screen capture with Cmd + Shift + 5, the preview doesn't go away on its own but swiping right will delete the entire recording.

Apple even says it's supposed to save after swiping.

This is very frustrating because I was recording something important. Turns out it only saves if you open it! What a load of crap! Is anyone else having this problem???

If you have the thumbnail show up at the bottom of the screen and do not need to edit, then either:

1) Disable the "Show Thumbnail" - then the screenshot is saved immediately with no opportunity for accidentally deleting

2) If you want to keep the show thumbnail option, want some 5 seconds and it will be saved without further action.
