Microsoft Word files will not open from Finder

When I attempt to open up any word files straight from the Finder, it will flash as if it is about to open but nothing happens. I have to Open up Word and go to File, Open, and browse my hard drive from within the Word application in order to open a document. It was not always doing this. It has started doing this within the last few weeks. Any idea why?

Select any Word document and press option+cmd+i. On that Get Info panel, there will be an Open With section, which should be set to MS Word. If it is not, then do so, and then click through the Change All… button prompts. That should allow you to open a Word document in Word with a double-click, or at least with a right-click Open With > MS Word (default).

I would recommend that your operating system and MS Office are fully updated.
