My boyfriends grandmas sister passed away and they gifted me her mini Ipad. Unfortunately she didn’t leave any passwords behind and I was trying to see if i could restore to factory mode so I could put my own apple information in on it.

You can try to reset your passcode. You will need a computer to complete this task. You can reset your passcode by following the instructions in this article by Apple âž” How to reset your passcode on a disabled iPhone. All your data on your iPhone will be wiped clean in the process.

One thing to note and that is that you may also run into the Activation Lock. You will need the original owner's Apple ID and Password to remove the Activation Lock. There are no other options for this one.
