how do you remedy "Time Machine could not create a local snapshot to back up from" when trying to back up macOS Catalina

You probably have your system drive too full, and there is not enough space for Time Machine to make the snapshot.


It is important to always leave some free space, especially on a system drive. It is usually recommended to leave 15-20% free at all times.
